Welcome to Season 11 of the Goodway Podcast! Whether you’ve been around from the start or are new here, I’m glad you’re joining us. A preview of Season 11 is streaming now, check it out for all the details! I’ve also published an episode highlighting the memory work for the season, including a sneak peak of the new hymn from Jeff! Episode 1 will drop on September 23rd, and I hope to launch new episodes every Monday.
What’s New This Season?
This season, in addition to music, poetry, Scripture, and stories, I’ll be introducing stories about science. I’ll highlight a handful of scientists who shaped our understanding of the natural world, showing how even those who didn’t fully know God glimpsed His truth through creation.
Jeff has reimagned a favorite hymn of mine, “Come Thou Fount”. In the hymn, the plea “tune my heart to sing Thy grace” echoes the idea that our hearts, like instruments, need to be aligned with God's harmonious order, just as the universe reflects His eternal rhythm and beauty.
I’ve also included Psalm 19 for memorization, a reminder that science and faith complement one another beautifully as God reveals himself in the natural world.
We’ll recite “The Celestial Surgeon” by Robert Louis Stevenson. This encourages us to reflect what it means to live well, a continuation of the themes we explored last season.
I’ll be sharing more Greek mythology, too! These stories deepen our understanding of literature, invite us to consider the importance of virtue, and help us to understand the world Jesus entered into. They also highlight the contrast between idols and the true God, pointing to deeper truths in God’s creation, redemption, and restoration.
We’ll listen to Holst’s “The Planets”, a seven-movement orchestral suite representing different planets. This may be a helpful clip to bookmark!
I truly hope this season brings wonder and encouragement as you guide your children to know and love God. It’s an honor to share some of my favorite things with you, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with your families through the airwaves.
Til next time, don’t forget to look for the good way and walk in it!
